Earth beads (below the bar)
- Adding: push the beads toward the bar with the thumb.
- Subtracting: move the beads away from the bar with the index finger.
Heaven bead (above the bar)
Whether adding or subtracting, use the index finger to move the heaven bead; this simplifies the motion and reduces errors.
The "pinch" move
When you need to move the heaven bead and earth beads together (such as for 6 or 7), use the thumb and index finger together in one pinch-like motion.
